PHARMACANN MEDICAL CANNABIS CULTIVATION & PROCESSING

In the two years since its incorporation as a medical cannabis start-up, PharmaCann has blossomed into a national brand in the medical marijuana industry.

In March 2015, PharmaCann was awarded its first six MMJ licenses in Illinois, including cultivation licenses in Hillcrest and Dwight, and four dispensaries located throughout northern Illinois.

As Illinois Department of Agriculture regulations required medical cannabis product to be available for sale no more than six months after license award, PharmaCann retained CORDOS to simultaneously construct both sites with must-completion dates in September 2015. In early spring 2015, CORDOS began fast-tracking the Hillcrest site, starting with engineering and installation of nearly 400 sixteen-feet deep vibratory aggregate piers to support building foundations and slabs in the marshy greenfield development. Following with the 11,000 SF processing building’s foundations, precast walls, and structural steel, along with the framing of 25,000 SF of custom greenhouses, CORDOS achieved total building enclosure by the beginning of May 2015. Completed and occupied within the six-month requirement, PharmaCann’s facilities were the first two operational facilities in Illinois.

Site utilities posed significant challenges at Hillcrest, especially within the 180 day completion schedule. While coordinating with the local municipal utility to extend 3 phase power and fiber cabling to the remote rural site, CORDOS also coordinated the design, permitting, and installation of an 80 GPM domestic and irrigation water well, septic field, underground fire suppression storage tanks, and 30,000 gallon fuel storage system.
