The Morse Theatre is a renovation/restoration and an uncommon green project. The Theatre is qualified for United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Silver Level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Certification. LEED Certification is the nationally recognized benchmark for the design and construction of high-performance, energy efficient buildings. The Theatre is situated in the heart of Rogers Park; a vibrant neighborhood located on the far north side of Chicago near Evanston. Originally a 1912 silent screen Nickelodeon, opened in the Fall of 2008 as a state-of-the-art, 265-seat live performance venue booking nationally recognized jazz, folk, blues, classical, Irish, singer-songwriters and traditional country artists, along with top local talent. Live theatre, vintage/independent cinema, children’s and cultural programming is also featured.
